1. Scope & Compliance

This Privacy Policy outlines how Hoppr Mobility Private Limited collects, processes, and protects your personal data in full compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023 of India. It covers riders, Captains, and visitors to our website.

2. Personal Data We Collect

  1. Account Identifiers: Full name, mobile telephone number, email address, and saved locations.
  2. Precise Geolocation: We collect real-time GPS telemetry from rider devices during an active booking session and from Captains while on duty to facilitate accurate matching and route safety. We do not collect rider location when no ride is booked or in progress.
  3. Ride History: Pickup and drop points, times, fares, payment method, ratings, and any reports you file.
  4. Safety Telemetry: Route Watch monitors vehicle velocity and stopping patterns to automatically detect accidents or unexpected route deviations.
  5. Captain Verification Data: For Captains only: driving licence, vehicle registration, police verification status, and the selfies used for liveness checks and daily helmet checks.

3. Why We Use It

We use your data to match you with a Captain, lock and charge your fare, keep rides safe, resolve complaints and refunds, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your precise location for advertising.

4. Call Masking and Data Privacy

  1. Virtual Phone Numbers: All voice communications between riders and Captains are routed through dual-channel virtual call masking. Neither party's private mobile number is ever disclosed.
  2. Wrapped Story Privacy: Data utilized for the monthly "Hoppr Wrapped" feature is strictly anonymized and aggregated. Wrapped is private until you choose to share it, and exact street addresses and timestamps are never visible on sharable export cards.
  3. Tag Along Links: A trip-sharing link shows your live ride only until you are dropped, and then expires.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your trip and location telemetry is retained for a maximum of 180 days for audit and safety compliance, after which it is permanently purged. Records we are required by law to keep, such as tax invoices, are kept only for the period the law requires. Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to request immediate erasure of your personal data by contacting privacy@hoppr.example.

6. Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act 2023 you may:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
  • correct or update inaccurate data;
  • withdraw consent for optional processing, such as marketing messages;
  • request erasure of your data;
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf.

We respond to rights requests within 30 days.
