1. Scope
The Clean Lid standard applies to every Hop and Spark ride. It sets out the helmets, hygiene caps and Grip Strap each Captain must carry, how we check them every shift, and when they must be replaced.
2. Helmet Technical Specifications
- Bureau of Indian Standards Certification: Every helmet utilized on the Hoppr platform (both full-face Captain helmets and open-face pillion helmets) must be ISI-marked and strictly conform to BIS Standard IS 4151:2015.
- Captain Helmet: Full-face design in automotive gloss Electric Violet, equipped with an anti-fog clear visor, quick-release micrometric buckle, and 38mm Acid Green retroreflective racing stripe.
- Pillion Helmet: Open-face lightweight shell in matte Chalk with high-visibility Violet accents and an adjustable ratchet headband (54–62 cm) fitting 98% of adult riders.
- Sanitising: Pillion helmet liners are wiped with an alcohol-free sanitiser between rides and removable liners are washed weekly.
3. Disposable Hygiene Cap Standard
- Material: 20 gsm non-woven spunbond polypropylene, breathable and sweat-resistant.
- Packaging: Each hygiene cap is individually sealed in an 80 gsm biodegradable kraft paper sachet (90 × 120 mm) with compostable adhesive.
- Mandatory Handover: Captains are required to hand over a fresh sealed sachet to every pillion rider prior to helmet handover. The rider tears it open, wears it, and keeps it.
- Stock: Captains carry at least 20 sealed caps per shift, restocked free at any Captain Hub.
4. Grip Strap Specification
- Purpose: A rider hand-hold fitted around the Captain's waist, because "hold my shoulder" isn't a safety feature.
- Construction: 50 mm high-tenacity nylon webbing with two moulded rubber grips and a reflective Acid Green edge for night visibility.
- Fastening: A side-release buckle rated to 150 kg, adjustable from 70 to 130 cm.
- Inspection: Checked for fraying and buckle damage in the daily helmet selfie. A damaged strap is replaced at the Hub the same day.
5. Pre-Shift AI Helmet Selfie Verification
Captains cannot go online or accept bookings without completing the daily 4-point AI visual inspection on their smartphone camera. No selfie, no rides:
- Captain wearing primary full-face helmet with visor raised.
- Chin strap visibly buckled and tensioned.
- Spare pillion helmet held and inspected.
- Sealed hygiene cap sachet stock verified.
A failed check tells the Captain exactly what to fix. Three failed checks in a row route the Captain to a Hub for a kit inspection.
6. Helmet Replacement Lifecycle
All platform helmets are subject to an 18-month mandatory replacement lifecycle. Any helmet involved in a motorcycle collision or showing structural shell stress must be retired immediately. Replacements are free at any Captain Hub.
7. Rider Reports
If a helmet, cap, or Grip Strap did not meet this standard, report it from the trip receipt. Every Clean Lid report is reviewed, and repeat reports mean retraining, then suspension.
