1. Introduction and Platform Scope
These Rider Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the ride aggregation platform operated by Hoppr Mobility Private Limited ("Hoppr", "we", "our"). Hoppr connects independent driver-partners ("Captains") with passengers seeking point-to-point urban mobility across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other authorized operating areas.
Hoppr is a technology platform. We do not own the vehicles on the platform, and Captains are independent partners, not our employees. Four ride types are offered where permitted:
- Hop: a two-wheeler bike taxi for one rider.
- Spark: an electric two-wheeler bike taxi for one rider. In Mumbai, Spark is the only bike taxi we offer.
- Auto: a three-wheeler for up to three riders.
- Cab: a four-seat air-conditioned car.
By creating an account or booking a ride, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms.
2. Upfront Fare Lock Guarantee
- Binding Fares: The fare displayed to you on the screen prior to confirming your booking request is final and binding ("Fare Lock").
- No Post-Booking Surge: Regardless of route deviations, traffic congestion, adverse weather, or waiting within the first 3 minutes at pickup, the base fare and surge multiplier will never increase once booked.
- Surge Cap: Any surge multiplier is shown before you book and never exceeds 2× the base fare.
- Permitted Additions: The only amounts that can be added to a locked fare are a waiting charge of ₹1 per minute after the first 3 free minutes at pickup, shown live in the app, and any tip you choose to add after the ride.
- No Unofficial Cash Demands: Captains are strictly prohibited from demanding cash above the fare indicated on the mobile application. If a Captain demands additional payment, you must report the incident immediately via the trip receipt screen.
3. Cancellation Policy and Fees
- Free Cancellation Period: You may cancel any ride request free of charge within two (2) minutes of a Captain accepting your booking.
- Captain Stall Waiver: If the assigned Captain makes no forward progress towards your pickup location for more than three (3) consecutive minutes, or if their estimated arrival time increases by more than five (5) minutes from assignment, you may cancel the ride with zero fee ("Stall Check").
- Standard Cancellation Fee: In all other instances where cancellation occurs after two minutes, a cancellation fee of 10% of the estimated fare (minimum ₹5, maximum ₹100) will apply. 100% of this fee is credited directly to the Captain to compensate for fuel and travel time.
- Hop Pass Exemption: Active subscribers of the Hop Pass benefit from unlimited zero-fee ride cancellations.
- Never Cancel on Request: If a Captain asks you to cancel, do not. Tell us from the trip screen instead. You will not be charged.
4. Mandatory Safety Standards & Pillion Helmets
- Helmet Requirement: In strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, both the Captain and the pillion rider must wear an ISI-certified protective helmet at all times during Hop and Spark rides.
- Clean Lid Hygiene: The Captain will provide a sanitized open-face helmet and a fresh, disposable non-woven hygiene cap sealed in a paper sachet before the journey commences. Riders are required to wear the hygiene cap beneath the helmet.
- Refusal of Service: A Captain retains the right to refuse service without penalty if a rider declines to wear the provided protective helmet.
5. Passenger Conduct and Prohibited Activities
Riders agree to behave courteously towards Captains. Intoxication, physical harassment, verbal abuse, smoking, vaping, or demanding dangerous riding speeds will result in immediate termination of the trip and permanent suspension of the rider's Hoppr account.
6. Payments, Tips and Kicks
You may pay by UPI, cash, or Kicks. Kicks are Hoppr ride credits worth ₹1 each and remain valid for 180 days from the date they are issued. Tips are optional, are offered only after the ride ends, and go 100% to your Captain.
7. Limitation of Liability
Placeholder. A real operator would set out here the extent of its liability for loss, injury, or delay arising from rides booked through the platform, the insurance cover available to riders, and the exclusions permitted under Indian law. As a concept project, Hoppr makes no such commitments.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update these Terms and will show the new "Last updated" date on this page. Questions about these Terms can be sent to grievance@hoppr.example.
